Counselor's Corner

Ms. Williams

A Word From the Counselor

As the School Counselor at Arrowhead Elementary School,
I work with students in a number of areas. Depending on
the individual needs, topics range from building self-esteem,
expressing anger appropriately, coping with grief, dealing
with separation/divorce, test anxiety, bullying, goal setting,
decision-making, anti-drug awareness, to the importance of
attendance, and how to be a friend. School Counselors are
not therapists. As a School Counselor, I assist with related
issues that affect the academic process of the child.
However, we have the resources to refer to outside services
when it is requested.
My job, as the counselor, is to help students be successful
at school, home, and in the community. I meet with students
2-4 times a month. We work on strategies to improve
behavior, self-confidence, interpersonal skills, and or any
other area of concern. Please keep in mind that the sessions
are CONFIDENTIAL, however I will notify the necessary
parties if a concern develops that needs further assistance.
Thank you and I look forward to working with you.
